In Our Time Of Need
The tears that quench our sadness
For all that used to be;
The aching in our hearts
That no one else can see.
The pain that doesn’t go away
For months, it lingers on,
Throbbing to remind us
Of our loved ones who have gone
Onto a place so far away
That we can’t reach or touch;
Leaving us to mourn their loss
And missing them so much.
Our lives can never be the same;
We wonder if they know
The ones they had to leave behind
Will always love them so?
We know they’re in a better place
Where they are now at peace,
Yet our hearts are never ready
To let go of or release
The love we had so deeply
For these angels that we miss…
We yearn for one more hug
And yet another kiss.
Never understanding why
God would take away
The ones that meant the most to us
And why they couldn’t stay
For just a little longer…
It seemed God should have known
How lost and broken we would be
Left here all alone.
We had so much more life to live
Together, them and us;
Yet we’ve been told He needed them
…Only just because.
We find ourselves with questions
For the ‘reasons’ and the ‘whys’;
The answers never coming,
We’re left to realize…
That we must just accept
What’s happened had to be,
To find comfort in His word
For the answers we can’t see.
We pray for hope to get us through
The pain and hurt we feel,
The strength that’s needed for us all
To cope with this ordeal.
We reach to hold each others’ hands
And lift each other high
Until the day we meet our loved ones
Once again up in the sky.
